The aim of this project was to look at a new approach to the design process by implementing AI.
Kids love blowing bubbles and playing with bubbles in the bath.
The concept is a fun idea based around mass customization for 3D printing. First you scan the foot so the shoe is made to the correct size. Following this, the child blows into a staw to create a personalized bubble design on the surface of the shoes.
It works by blowing through the straw into the PC’s microphone. The bubbles grow as the blowing noise is registered by the microphone. Once the child is happy with the design, they are sent to 3D print :)
This project was produced using AI prompts. Starting with the concept of bubbles, the form language of the shoe was created
The prompts were refined until I could control the base volume of the shoe. The design of each shoe will be different, so the base design needs to be simple. I was also looking for a silhouette that can be slipped on and off but still offered support
Even though this is product is designed by AI, I still had a clear idea what I wanted to achieve. The final design has a nice stance and conveys the concept well. It’s also feasible for production
